TSMC and UMC 3Q utilization may not reach expectations
Word has it in the market that third-quarter production utilization rates at leading foundries Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) may not quite reach the heights previously anticipated. UMC's sales have not grown as much as expected, and as TSMC's July orders show initial signs of decline, customers are taking on a conservative attitude toward booking capacity.
