Toyota launches real Scion models in Second Life
Toyota has launched an updated Scion xB model and the new xD in both real and Second Life.
The Japanese car maker held press conferences in both venues and let Second Life residents buy a virtual car for 300 Linden dollars, the virtual currency of Second Life. Players can customize the car with real and fantasy accessories and can even drive it around and pick up other players.
The Scion xD model will have an optional audio system that can download media and display it on the head unit. Toyota launched the Scion back in 2003 and sold nearly 175,000 cars in 2006. The car is known for its boxy shape and is well liked by the car-modding community who often fill their cars with LCD screens and speakers.
