Toughbook 27: 300MHz and combat-ready
Panasonic's new ruggedized notebook is the highest performance, most cost-effective notebook PC in its class, according to the company.
The system features a 300MHz Pentium II CPU, a 6GB hard drive, 512 kB of L2 cache, and 64MB of RAM, expandable to 192MB.
The unit is equipped with a 12.1" TFT active matrix color LCD with "DayBrite ARX" anti-reflective technology for outdoor viewing even in bright sunlight.
The Toughbook offers integrated wireless communications solutions, including DataTAC, Mobitex and CDPD. The full magnesium alloy cabinet has 20 times the tensile strength of normal ABS plastic cases, and its shock-mounted removable hard drive is enclosed in a stainless steel case.
The Toughbook 27 sells for an estimated street price of $4,769.
