Toshiba Pocket PC e570

A bunch of new PDAs were announced today due to the official launch of Microsoft's Pocket PC 2002 software at events in San Francisco and London. Toshiba was part of the act with the release of the Pocket PC e570 PDA, which delivers wireless capabilities, expandability and (of course) features the new Pocket PC 2002 operating software. The Pocket PC e570 lets you use dual integrated expansion slots simultaneously for storage and connectivity. You can also stuff an optional Bluetooth SD module into the Secure Digital expansion slot to exchange information with other Bluetooth-enabled devices. The e570 will hold up to 128MB of additional memory (via an optional Toshiba SD memory card) and a CompactFlash II expansion slot lets you use add-on devices like a Global Positioning Systems, bar code reader, Wi-Fi (802.11b), or a 56K modem. The device includes Microsoft Windows Media Player 8 to let you use it as an MP3 player or to view video files. The visual interface is a 64K backlit color display. Other multimedia features include digital voice recording, a microphone, and a stereo headphone jack. Powering the e570 is Toshiba's Lithium-ion power technology, comprising a thin lightweight battery that is said to deliver up to eight hours of battery life. The PDA weighs less than half a pound and is driven by a 206MHz Intel StrongARM processor. The Toshiba Pocket PC e570 is priced at $569 with a one year parts and labor warranty and will be available initially to corporate enterprise customers as well as educational and government sector customers in November 2001.
