Toshiba launches megafast SRAMs

by - source: Tom's Hardware

Toshiba has introduced what it claims to be the industry's first 16-megabit asynchronous high-speed SRAMs.

The new family of 16-Mbit SRAMs features access times of 10 to 15 nanoseconds and a range of memory array configurations. The company says the higher-density device will enable customers using applications requiring multiple 4-Mbit SRAM components in a single system to maximize manufacturing efficiency and save board space requirements by more than 70 percent.

Samples of the 16-Mbit asynchronous SRAMs are now available, with prices starting at $140 for the 15-nanosecond devices. Toshiba says production quantities of 10-, 12-, and 15-nanosecond speed grades will be available in the fourth quarter with volume pricing available by the end of the year.
