Toshiba Launches Full Line Of Centrino Notebooks

Toshiba's Computer Systems Group announced a full suite of Intel Centrino mobile technology-based notebooks. Toshiba's Satellite Pro M15 represents the first Intel Centrino mobile technology notebook in retail stores. In addition, the new Satellite Pro M10, Tecra M1, Tecra S1 and Portégé R100 notebooks will offer corporate customers and traveling professionals the latest technology.
The newly designed Satellite Pro M10/15 Series adds the perfect balance of multimedia features and style for both work and home use. It combines Intel Centrino mobile technology, 15" diagonal display, NVIDIA GeForce4 420 Go graphics, Harman/Kardon stereo speakers, a DVD-ROM/CD-RW multi-function drive, convenient CD and DVD playback buttons and a swappable Slim SelectBay for added flexibility and expansion capabilities. It also includes dual mouse control (Accupoint pointing device and touchpad) functionality, one-touch TV-out button to easily connect to a television with a touch of a button, Secure Digital slot and an i.Link (IEEE 1394) port and according to Toshiba will featuring 5.5 hours of battery life with 1 battery and up to 9 hours with 2 batteries.
Tecra M1 series is designed For Corporate Customers and IT Managers, weighing only 5.7 pounds and will featuring over six hours of battery life (ten plus hours with optional second battery) according to Toshiba. The Tecra M1 Series incorporates Intel's Centrino mobile technology and provides customers with advanced power, battery optimization and wireless connectivity. Meanwhile, IT managers will enjoy the Tecra-family benefits of a stable, configurable notebook with a long product lifecycle. The Tecra Series M1 also includes enhanced features such as a brightness sensor to control the 14" diagonal display in different environmental settings and a one-touch presentation button so the user can easily connect to a projector. A variety of communication options provide access to information on a corporate network and/or Internet via integrated Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11a/b or 802.11b), Bluetooth, integrated 10/100/1000 Ethernet port and built-in V.92 modem. The unit also includes a Secure Digital Media slot and an integrated i.Link (IEEE 1394) port for ultra-fast data transfer from a variety of multimedia products.
Toshiba's Tecra S1 Series is the latest addition to the Tecra family, the Tecra S1 Series, will also incorporate Intel Centrino mobile technology. This desktop replacement offers heavyweight performance and features in a mainstream, notebook platform. The Tecra S1 series will check in at a little over 6 pounds and features a full-sized keyboard, 15" diagonal display (XGA/UXGA), integrated Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11 a/b or 802.11b) and Bluetooth.
The Portégé R100 Series comes in 2.4 pounds and .6 inches thin, the Portégé R100 Series is targeted at the highly mobile executive. The notebook also includes Intel Centrino mobile technology and integrated Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11a/b or 802.11b). The R100 will also feature a 12" diagonal poly silicon display, 1.8" 20-30GB HDD and optional PC Card DVD drive and slim port replicator round out the offerings for the R100. According to Toshiba the primary battery will offer up to two hours of battery life and up to six and one half hours with the second battery that is included with the unit.
The Satellite Pro M15 is available immediately at Toshiba's retail distribution channels including computer superstores and consumer electronic stores. The Tecra M1 and Portégé R100 are available via corporate direct, shoptoshiba.com, mail order and traditional distribution channels. The Tecra S1 is available via corporate direct and traditional distribution channels. The Satellite Pro M10 is available via shoptoshiba, mail order and traditional distribution channels.
