The Pivo is a small and compact car, with an overall length 2.7 meters; and it is also very light, weighing 800kg. It has eight mounted cameras in the roof, which give the driver a perfect surround view and acts as a safety feature of the car. Blind spots that the windshield pillars create are removed by these sensitive cameras, and approaching pedestrians are displayed as lighted images on the dashboard. The Pivo also offers uncompromising visibility as the pivoting cabin has large glass panes in the front and rear.

Nissan also promises that the audio and navigational functions of the car are extremely easy to use and aim to minimize fumbling around with buttons and dials on the dashboard. A unique feature of this car is its ability to be used without the driver ever taking their eyes off the road. An infrared commander gives full control of the navigation and audio systems to the driver using hand motions and signals.

This system works as a human-machine interface (HMI) and allows certain menus and modes to be selected and operated. For example, when audio mode is chosen the stereo volume can be increased by making an upward motion with ones hand. This is dubbed the 'magic 4' concept by its creators Nissan.

Although this smart Nissan seems road-worthy, some questions do need to be asked: Will it be economically viable to put this design into mass production? What of the intricate nature of the parts and components, and how will it stand against a tough life on the bustling streets? Answers to these questions remain unclear, as the Pivo has not yet gone onto the market. At this time the Pivo's future remains uncertain.
