TI Amplifier Targets Optical Networking

by - source: Tom's Hardware

Texas Instruments' single supply instrumentation amplifier from the company's Burr-Brown product line incorporates a proprietary circuit technology to provide rail-to-rail input/output performance and DC accuracy. Instrumentation amplifiers can extract differential signals from interfering voltages to maintain accuracy in electrically noisy environments. TI says the amplifier's low offset voltage (125uV max), low offset drift (1uV/C), very low 1/f noise, high common-mode rejection (110dB, G = 100), and stability offer the high precision required in temperature sensors (thermocouples, thermopiles, thermistors, RTDs), pressure bridges, weigh scales, medical monitors, and general purpose 12 to 16-bit data acquisition systems. The device's true single supply operation on +2.7V to +5.5V, input common-mode range (20mV beyond rails), and wide output swing (within 10mV of rails) could be of benefit to low-voltage battery-operated systems, buffering input for wide dynamic range analog-to-digital converters and current shunt measurements at ground. The INA326 is packaged in an MSOP-8 and priced at $1.65 in 1,000 piece quantities. The device is specified over the extended industrial temperature range of -40C to +85C, with high-temperature operation from -40C to +125C.
