Three megapixel digital cameras near
Dramatically higher-resolution digital cameras capable of capturing images with three million pixels could hit the market as soon as next month.
According to a report from Carl Holec, a digital imaging analyst with ARS, both Canon and Casio may announce new three megapixel cameras at the Consumer Electronics Show January 6. Both are said to offer 3.3 megapixel resolution, USB "plug and play" interfaces and support for CompactFlash cards.
Analysts say the new devices will exert additional competitive pressure on existing mid-range and even high-end film cameras, and lead to drastic price reductions on existing, lower-resolution digital cameras.
