According to a story in Wired, British intelligence has devised a scheme to counter the problems caused by stolen and misplaced laptops filled with secrets. The surprisingly candid British Defense Ministry has reported 205 lost laptop PCs since 1997 and has devised a briefcase that will automatically destroy anything on a lost hard drive if someone tries to access it without the proper code. The machines also have a tracking function that can notify owners of their locations.
