SI's Joseph Lee stands by motherboards using the new SiL 164 and SiL 1162 DVI encoder chips.

Silicon Image makes semiconductors for communications applications, including PCs, consumer electronics, storage and networking. At the show, they were showing a range of chips, including the SiI 164 transmitter, which supports displays ranging from VGA to UXGA resolutions (25-165Mpps) in a single-link interface. Like many of the products we saw, these are the things that make machines do the work we need them to do, working behind the scenes in other company's motherboards and systems to tweak them to end-user needs.

Seasonic

Patricia Hsu with Seasonic's high efficiency, quiet, power supplies.

"We're showing customers how much money they can save by using an efficient power supply," says Patricia Hsu of Seasonic. "This is an area where white box vendors can add value for their customers." While a home user running a single computer may not notice much of a difference on their energy bill, corporate customers running multiple workstations could see substantial savings by having these types of supplies in their machines."
