Well, it seems as though we've been talking a lot about games and game consoles this week, primarily due to the preponderance of releases at E3 . Another reason for this coverage is that hardware folks seem to be heavier into games than most. Finally, the new game consoles are moving steadily toward becoming Internet/entertainment/iTV convergence devices. To round out this coverage, we bring you some statistics on game use from games.theglobe.com , garnered from a survey it ran on four of its websites. The company also ran a separate poll for parents and kids on Kids Domain . According to the surveys, PCs still dominate as the platform used most often among adult gamers. Among the wee ones, there is no single dominant platform; the PC led only slightly, followed closely by Gameboy, Nintendo 64, and PlayStation. When asked what new gaming system they are most looking forward to, the highest percentage of adults chose "Next-Generation PC," followed by XBox and GAMECUBE. Among kids, Gameboy Advance was the number one choice followed by "Next-Generation PC" and GAMECUBE. As a side note, over 90% of the adult respondents to the Kids Domain survey think some games are too violent, but the vast majority of all adults polled think parents bear the responsibility for whether or not children should play M-rated games. So there you have it. The PC still rules, and it's up to parents to police their kids.
