DJ Interface, Continued
The most familiar commands on a DJ system that Hercules also offers are, of course, those for access to tracks and play functions. There is nothing unusual here, except for a "Cue" button to define the in and out points on a track. There are two more controls to adjust pitch and tempo. On the top middle are three buttons and a function selector to use the predefined cue points, control continuous play and functions. Another button is used for automatic mixing and, of course, there is a joggle to simulate turntable effects, such as scratching.

For proper DJ work, the Hercules console offers features for mixing with volume control and three potentiometers for low, middle and high frequencies. Added to this is a playback function controlled by a little push button with a LED indicator. All the DJs with whom we have spoken who have tried it say the DJ Console is well designed, with all the features you need, and a pleasure to use. Of course, we must remember that this is only the hardware interface for a software program. The actual end result depends on how well this interface adapts to the software. More about this further on.
