In the run up to the 6x86MX (M2) launch there was a lot of talk about the superior MMX engine of the 6x86MX (M2). Well, looking at the above results doesn't leave much of these expectations.The 6x86MX (M2) is definitely the weakest MMX CPU, although the distance to the K6 isn't really that far. The one area that really hits the 6x86MX (M2) is the 3D performance. I told you already in the Pentium II review that this performance is hardly depending on the CPU's MMX unit, but on its FPU, as you can see if you've got a look at the Pentium Pro's (no MMX unit) 3D performance. The FPU of the 6x86MX (M2) is its weakest spot, just as in its older brother 6x86.
