Spatial Uniformity

Ad

The VX715 was not perfectly uniform. A luminance gradient was visible from left to right. At least the monitor was symmetrical vertically, with the upper and lower part of the panel registering almost exactly the same light intensity. Overall, all the values were within 20% of the total range, making it average for the displays we tested. It's not as good as the FP785, but then again it also doesn't cost as much.

The Fastest Of The Slow

The use of a TN+Film panel resulted in ViewSonic's winning the title of fastest 25 ms monitor... Maybe not an enviable position to be in, but it's something.

The latency profile for the monitor was well above our two references - the Hydis 20 ms and the AU Optronics 8 ms panels. That's far from the promised 25 ms, but since this unit is intended more for graphics work, that's not really a problem. The latency reached its worst level near 42 ms. At best, the panel scored 32 ms. Responsiveness is not this monitor's strong point, but it's still well under the levels attained by the MVA panels we tested.
