Calibration of this monitor posed no particular problems. The color rendering was quite satisfactory. 92% of the colors were perfect. Only 4% were rendered with a DeltaE greater than 2. That's not as good as the FP71W, for example, but you have to consider the fact that the VX715 uses a Chunghwa CLAA170EA-02 TN+Film panel, which will naturally perform less well in terms of color fidelity than an MVA panel. On the other hand it's much more responsive, as we'll see.

Calibration was done at 215 cd/m² luminance. That's approximately an adjustment of 75% brightness and 75% contrast - approximate because there's no graduation on the OSD. While the 215 is a little high, the black level is quite reasonable. The monitor is capable of even higher luminance values, however. But unless your work environment is particularly bright, a value of between 180 and 205 cd/m² is amply sufficient.

If the luminance doesn't suit you, however, you can play with the adjustment, but with limitations, as the next graph shows:

The contrast was not extremely stable. You'll be able to use a range of between 30% and 90% contrast. Let me mention once again that constructing this graph was made extremely difficult due to the lack of graduations on the brightness adjustment. In the final analysis, the color rendering was very satisfactory. Even with the calibration adjustments (75/75), the display had very deep blacks at a luminance only slightly above what we consider ideal.
