Accurate, But Not Beyond

The move from a response time of 16 ms to 12 ms wasn't painless. After calibration, the profile we got is a bit chaotic:

While 85% of the colors were very faithfully rendered, the darkest 5% weren't. You can see clearly that the 1730S and the 1720B aren't in the same league here.

If the luminance is right, neither too high nor low, the black level is abnormally high, which has a strong negative impact on contrast.

Since the contrast is very stable, theoretically you might be able play with the brightness a little to get a better level of black. But the result had too much of a negative effect, leaving very little room to work in with this adjustment.
