The E3/Computex US/Asia Trip : Introduction
Introduction
E3 was this year one week before Computex so that I had to fly to Atlanta first, then having a one day break in the San Francisco Bay Area before heading over the Pacific to Taipei/Taiwan. E3 is one of the big computer gaming shows and I went there to visit AMD, 3D card and chip manufacturers and to also make some contacts with game developers. Alex 'Sharky' Ross accompanied me for the whole trip, taking me by his hand at E3 and being taken by his hand from me at Computex.
KryoTech - Columbia S.C.
After arriving in Atlanta we made a one day trip over to Columbia S.C. on invitation of Kryotech, before we both went back to Atlanta and E3. Kryotech showed us their R&D as well as their manufacturing facilities and we were both very impressed with the professionalism that Kryotech puts into its work. Without wanting to offend anybody and with the horrible train disaster still on my mind I would like to state that the way Kryotech is focussing on cooling technology reminded me of the very particular German way of dealing with technology. Kryotech is not just slamming some super cooling devices together, they have an almost scientific approach to their work, reminding me of my time in the lab of the Department of Physiology at Heidelberg University. It's not the pure aspect of money making found so often in the US, but a real dedication to a strong vision which puts the Kryotech staff apart from so many other companies in the computer business. I will dedicate a special article to the Kryotech visit, beefed up with many photos from their lab and manufacturing facility. For now one photograph should do. Alex and I are the second and fourth from the left (Alex is easy to recognize, simply look out for some prisoner pants :), I'm the guy next to Alex with the stupid sunglasses in front of my chest)
