The dark and light side: Alienware offers Star Wars PC
Alienware jumped into the Stars Wars craze and will ship PCs that probably will satisfy most fans of the movie series. The new devices are based on the Alienware Aurora family, however add Star Wars-branded case designs, as well as content such as desktop skins, a fan club membership, and movie soundtrack samples.
Available in two design themes - the light and the dark side - the PCs will be shipping in early June, according to the manufacturer’s website. The base PC is priced from about $1500 and comes with an Athlon 64 3000+ processor. However, we would expect most enthusiasts to order several extras on Alienware’s option list that is as complex as BMW’s price list. Among the options are dual GeForce 6800 Ultra 512 MByte graphic cards for about $1500, performance memory for about $400 and an Athlon FX-55 processor for about $860. A display is not included in the base price. (THG)
