Hitachi's professional drive top model is the UltraStar 15K147, offering a whopping 15,000 RPM at 36 GB, 73 GB and 147 GB capacity points. The drives are equipped with 16 MB cache memory and they utilize a motor with reliable fluid dynamic bearings (FDB). Depending on the version, the seek times vary between 3.7 and 3.3 ms. The SAS versions of this drive require up to 12 W of idle power, while the Ultra320 versions require a little less. While the Fujitsu drives weigh 0.8 kg, the 15K147 family is specified at a lighter 0.758 kg. The operating temperature range again is 5°C to 55°C (41°F to 131°F). 92 MB/s maximum data transfer rate and 5.9 ms average access time are good results.
