Texas Instruments Hears the Power
Napster may be all but dead and gone, but Internet audio is still big business. Just ask Texas Instruments, whose shipments of Internet Audio digital signal processors (DSPs) surpassed three million in June of 2001, more than any other programmable semiconductor manufacturer. TI's Internet Audio business boasted a bunch of new designs and industry accolades in the second quarter, including EDN magazine naming TI the winner of its 2000 "Innovation of the Year" award and TI's TMS320C5510 DSP received the award for the "Digital Signal Processors" category. EDN's awards program tries to recognize outstanding and innovative engineering products each year. Awards or no, that's a lot of DSPs
