Microsoft Corp, IBM and Intel Corp, among others, are working inexorably toward the development of technologies that could be built into PCs that would prevent the copying of files without copyright owner permission. Also, the 1394 Trade Association has approved copy restriction mechanisms put forth by the bus industry's 5C Entity, adding to the calls by the storage industry 4C Entity for similar measures.
