by - source: Tom's Hardware

Hewlett-Packard, Intel, IBM, and NEC are cooperating to found and fund an independent, nonprofit laboratory dedicated to promoting business-related Linux software. The Open Source Development Lab will have high-end hardware and a rich library of software for developers in the open-source world. Staff and other resources will be provided by Caldera, LinuxCare, Red Hat, SuSE, TurboLinux, and VA Linux. The effort has been endorsed by the likes of open-source advocate, Eric Raymond, and co-founder of Apache, Brian Behlendorf. The first ODSL projects will include development tools and kernel work meant to encourage businesses to adopt open-source technology.
