Targus' HandCam For PDAs

Personally, the idea of video conferencing or even sending still images makes me cringe. The last thing I need is for Omid to see that I'm still in my pajamas at 3:00 in the afternoon. Adding a digital camera to your PDA might come in handy for other things, though. Maybe you can use your little organizer to take a quick snapshot of the jerk that just ran into your car. Targus, the company generally known for its computer hardware cases, apparently has a few hardware products as well, and just let us know about its new HandCam Springboard digital camera for the Handspring Visor. Weighing only 1.4 ounces, the HandCam connects to all Visor models via the Springboard external expansion slot. The Targus HandCam features 640 x 480 resolution and a swivel base for image capture. Included with the HandCam is a clip-on dock with a USB connection that can attach it to the edge of an open notebook or other stationary object to let you use it as a stand-alone web cam or still image camera. Other features include wireless IR image transfer to and from a PDA and computer, 24-Bit True Color digital image capture and two megaBytes of on-board memory. The Targus HandCam comes bundled with Arcsoft Photo Impression 3.0 and Microsoft Net Meeting software and will be available in early December for $99.
