TankBook joins notebook battle
Tangent Computer Inc. is offering a ruggedized notebook computer, called the TankBook, which targets government employees, teachers, and students.
Certified to withstand harsh environmental conditions, the TankBook is no lightweight. The computer is designed to withstand extreme high and low temperatures, rain or other liquids, airborne dirt or dust, and being dropped on concrete from up to three feet high. Additionally, the body of the TankBook is made of magnesium diecast alloy that protects it from heavy impact or drops.
The TankBook is retailing at $3799, but leasing options are also available. Orders take 3 to 4 weeks for delivery, due to the extensive testing requirements. Tangent's web site is located at www.tangent.com .
