Taiwan LED makers scheduling capacity expansion
Although the Taiwan LED industry experienced consolidation this year due to falling margins, oversupply and slower growth, Taiwan-based LED makers including Everlight Electronics, Bright LED Electronics and Unity Opto Technology are planning to aggressively expand in 2006, according to the companies.
LED maker Everlight Electronics plans to invest NT$500 million (US$14.9 million) in capacity expansion in 2006 with monthly capacity at Everlight expected to reach 650 million units by the end of next year, up 75% from 372 million units at present.
