Breaking records: Banner month for Taiwan TFT LCD makers
All major TFT LCD panel makers in Taiwan, except for HannStar Display, had record sales and shipments in September thanks to rebounding panel prices, seasonal effects and newly added capacity.
Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) had the most growth in both sales and shipments. The company’s consolidated sales rose 18% sequentially to NT$16.5 billion while shipments increased 13.4 % to 2.4 million units, thanks to a smooth capacity ramp at its 5.5-generation (5.5G) plant, which processed 50,000 glass substrates last month.
