Taiwan's earthquake last week has left some impact on the manufacturing industry there, but nowhere as bad as in September, 1999 when power outages across the island caused serious problems. This time, TSMC and UMC are reporting a closure of part of their manufacturing operations due the March 31 quake, which registered 6.8 on the Richter scale.
For more information on the damage to local companies, and the impact on component manufacturing and prices check out the story on DigitTimes.
