Taiwan adopts Crusoe for 'Web-pads'

by - source: Tom's Hardware

Transmeta says the Taiwanese computer industry has adopted its low-power Crusoe chip using the Mobile Linux as the industry standard for new mobile "Web pads."

The lightweight devices will run a full-screen, PC-like Internet browser using a wireless connection.

The company also revealed more details about Mobile Linux, saying it was modified to run on devices without a hard disk and can compress programs to take up just half the space, with the operating system stored on a flash memory card.
