System Administrator Appreciation Day?
I'm honestly surprised that no one in the glorious mass of THG readership informed me of this, but Friday was System Administrator Appreciation Day, as we found out from The Register . We have days set aside to honor past presidents, our mothers and fathers, and secretaries (although it's probably not called "Secretary's Day" anymore), and if we missed one of those celebrations we'd be consideRead insensitive. The Systems Administrators, going quietly about their work, were either too tired to remember what day it was or sulking about like forgotten birthday boys and girls. If you missed giving your IT team extra kudos or gifts on Friday, let `em know that you love them. And if you (and there's probably a ton of you out there) missed being honored, let the company know by mass email. The Sysadmin Day website can be found and even goes as far as giving you "A Week in the Life of a Systems Administrator" and suggestions for appropriate gifts. Better luck next year.
