Symantec today announced the release of the Norton Ghost 10.0, the firm’s backup and recovery software. According to the manufacturer, the new version captures the contents of the entire drive, including all files, folders, system settings and customizations to enable "complete" backups.
A new feature is what Symantec calls "personalized protection." This technology automatically detects when new storage devices are added to the computer and determines which drives should be backed up and which are optimal storage destination locations. "New recovery point capabilities focus on points in time rather than images," the firm said. In addition, performance throttling adjusts system resource usage based on present computing processes to more effectively utilize resources when creating recovery points.
Norton Ghost will be available late September for a suggested retail price of $70. (THG)
