Symantec provides antitrust information on Microsoft to European Commission

Cupertino (CA) - A spokesperson for Symantec Corp. confirms to TG Daily Technology News that the company provided information to European Commission officials in connection with its ongoing antitrust compliance investigation of Microsoft Corp.
"As we’ve said in the past," the spokesperson stated via e-mail, "we will compete with Microsoft in the markets, not in the courts as long as there is a level playing field. We have not filed a formal complaint with the European Commission. We have responded to requests for information from the European Commission. The information we provided was to assist the government in understanding the complexity of the security industry and our role in it."
The spokesperson declined to respond to a question regarding whether the EC’s request for information came at the prompting of Symantec.
