Researchers from University of Michigan-Dearborn and ON Semiconductor have announced a new power semiconductor technology that should, they say, prevent voltage spikes. New automobiles, with an ever increasing number of electronic components, require far more from batteries, but car makers have not yet embraced available 42-volt battery systems because of the damage that "load-dumps" can do to sensitive electronics.
