Sun researching clockless chips
Sun Microsystems is investing in asynchronous computing research, moving toward the development of CPUs without clocks. According to a New York Times article, a group of Sun researchers will announce progress in practical applications next month.
Asynchronous computing would require less power and, without a clock to slow down processing, operate much faster than conventional chips.
