PNY GeForce 7800GTX slide show
The GeForce 7800GTX is the flagship of the G70 line. GeForce 7800GTX has eight vertex shader units and 24 pixel shader units. The PNY Verto GeForce 7800GTX graphics card runs at the stock Nvidia specifications with the memory at 600 MHz (1.2 GHz DDR) and the core at 430 MHz.
PNY is the proud official sponsor of Team 3D, the world renowned professional WarCraft III (WC3) and CounterStrike (CS) team, as its card's packaging indicates. PNY must be proud of its team as they won first in CS and second in WC3 at the World Series of Video Games (WSVG) in Louisville, Kentucky.
Just like the EVGA GeForce 7800GT, the PNY GeForce 7800GTX has a 256-bit memory bus with 256-MB GDDR3 memory modules, is HDTV ready providing 1080i output support and can be connected to a second GeForce 7800GTX for SLI. The card also has Dual Link DVI out so this card can power 30" monitors at a resolution of 2560x1600 and has 400-MHz RAMDACs to run dual 2048x1526 CRT monitors.
As for noise, the cooler on the PNY GeForce 7800GTX is quiet. The retail cooling solution we have on our AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 was louder than the cooler on the 7800GTX.
PNY supports its Verto line of graphics cards with a lifetime replacement. The one drawback lies in the details of the warranty. It only allows one year of coverage if a customer does not register with PNY. Once he or she registers the total timeframe for replacement is three years. This warranty is not transferable like the EVGA warranty.
This is a standard warranty and we feel this should not be called a lifetime warranty since it does not necessarily cover the lifetime of the graphics card. Many owners have their cards longer than three years and it is not uncommon for enthusiasts to replace a card and use the old one in another machine. This warranty is the same for both PNY cards in this review.
