The GeForce 7800GT is a slower version of the G70 core used for the GeForce 7800GTX, but has one less vertex shader unit, four fewer pixel shader units and is coupled with slower GDDR3 modules. In total, the core has 20 pixel shader units and seven vertex shader units. The EVGA GeForce 7800GT is clocked faster out of the box than the specification set by Nvidia. The core runs at 445 MHz (45 MHz faster) and the 256 MB of GDDR3 memory is set at 535 MHz (35 MHz faster).
EVGA offers a lifetime warranty for all of its graphics cards and motherboards purchased on or after June 22, 2005. In addition to the lifetime warranty, EVGA has a step-up program. This program gives customers the option to upgrade to a newer card (more expensive) for the difference of the cost of the first card plus tax and shipping. This gives users a 90-day window to change their mind if he or she really wanted the bigger card or if the purchase was made before a new product launch.
The GeForce 7800GT has a single slot cooler with a 40 mm fan. It is a little louder than our CPU fan, but once installed inside the case, it is much less noticeable. In 2D and 3D mode the fan remained at the same speed.
The card features a 256-bit memory bus with 256 MB GDDR3 memory modules, is HDTV ready with1080i output support and can be connected to a second GeForce 7800GT for SLI. The card also has Dual Link DVI output so this card can power 30" monitors at a resolution of 2560x1600 and has 400 MHz RAMDACs to run dual 2048x1526 CRT monitors.
