STMicroelectronics makes overture to Hynix
STMicroelectronics, the Franco-Italian chipmaker, has approached Hynix Semiconductor about a "strategic alliance" for their memory chip businesses, the South Korean company said on Thursday.
An alliance would boost the companies’ competitiveness against rivals such as Samsung Electronics and Intel, and could help alleviate Hynix’s problems with the European Union.
