Cyberspace is apparently Starbucks' new territory, with Starbucks' announcement that it has launched a wireless Internet access system using WiFi at approximately 1,200 Starbucks Coffee Shops to further enhance its customer services. The enabled shops are on a LAN supplied by a partnership consisting of T-Mobile International, Deutsche Telekom AG's wireless division, and Hewlett-Packard Company. HP is supplying free software for notebook and hand held users that is available at www.starbucks.com/hotspot , while T-Mobile is supplying free trials for its fee-based ISP service. These three partners have announced that they plan to open at least 2,000 wireless Internet enabled cafes across the U.S., in London, and in Berlin before the end of this year.
