Modders Make Star Wars: KOTOR 2 Complete
Meatbag.
Many regard the original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic as the best game based on the George Lucas-created universe to date. Some also regard KOTOR as one of the best PC RPGs of all time, crafted by genre-masters BioWare in Edmonton, Canada.
While a KOTOR sequel was inevitable (and much demanded) thanks to the superlative original game, the development duties fell to Obsidian. Although Obsidian was a capable of delivering a great KOTOR follow-up, deadlines and other pressures marred the product. The end result was a rushed an unfinished game, and it showed.
In fact, it showed so well that the unfinished bits were sitting on the final gold master disc that was duplicated for retail sale. Despite all that, KOTOR II was still one of the best RPGs of the year, but we couldn't help but wonder how much better it could have been if there was simply more time.
Now passionate PC modders have taken those unfinished files and have pieced together the unused files (and created some new content to fill in the holes) for a more "complete" Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords experience.
This is the first release of the open beta, but if you have a hankering to go back to the Old Republic, check it out here. (You'll need a full copy of the game too.)
