Sprint PCS and Canada Mobile Form Wireless Partnership
Sprint PCS has announced that it is partnering with Canadian Bell Mobility, a wireless company owned by Bell Canada, to develop enhanced wireless devices and services. Sprint PCS has previously focused most of its emphasis on the wireless consumer industry, with its new applications consisting mainly of consumer games, inventive ringer sounds, etc. Bell Mobility's focus has been on sales of wireless services to businesses, with its new applications for business providing technology to read Portable Document Format (PDF) items on the go. The partnership appears to be a good fit, as both Sprint and Bell Mobility share the same version of Qualcomm's Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology, and also the same type of networks that allow wireless download of Web pages at speeds of 40 to 60 kbps. Further information as to immediate plans for the partnership was not available.
