Splinter Cell: The Techno-Ninja Returns To Cause Chaos

by

While not everyone would agree with exactly how old the gaming industry is, most would concur that it is still very young. That being the case, most would also tend to agree that the new "stealth action" sub-category is still in its infancy. Despite that, the latest game in the Splinter Cell franchise makes the folks at Ubisoft look like they have been birthing stealth action games since before "Pong".

Their latest, Chaos Theory, is similar to most other games that have sprung from the mind of Tom Clancy, in that unlike his books, it doesn't excel in the story department. In fact, during the course of many missions, you may completely forget how your objective ties into the overall, ahem, plot. But not to worry, there's plenty here to keep you moving on to the next mission even if you aren't able to get too wrapped up in this particular threat to civilization.

For those unfamiliar with the Splinter Cell franchise, you play the role of special operative Sam Fisher. It's 2007, and the intelligence agency original tasked with securing the nation's sensitive information through cryptography has taken a decidedly more active approach to securing peace. Not "active" in the more familiar image of missiles and Marines. No, the NSA has chosen to project its power in the form of a knife snaking around someone's throat from the darkness. You are the man holding the silent blade - you are Sam Fisher.
