Spansion to fight NOR flash uncertainty with sub 110 nm products
The first quarter of 2007 was harsh for leading NOR flash maker Spansion as reflected in widening quarterly losses. The company said the price plummet was greater than typical in the first quarter, and stressed that it should maintain its solid foothold in the industry upon new cost cutting measures, which include advancement to sub 110nm production. Not only should the company see the benefit from shrinking costs, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), should also see growing orders amid Spansion’s ramp of 90 nm production.
