Sony Web-appliance uses Be OS

Sony has chosen the Be operating system to run its new Web-browsing appliance, the eVilla. The product represents the first important "design win" for the closely watched BeIA operating system. The device is being pitched as a network entertainment center, focusing on Be's multimedia strengths such as streaming audio. It has a longer, 15" monitor, a Memory Stick reader instead of a hard drive, and two USB ports for printer and external storage. A spring delivery date is set with price subsidized at $500, with a $21.95 monthly fee for the ISP. An Ethernet port is included, though high-speed service are not yet available.
