Sony Unveils 3D All-In-One VAIO L Desktop

Sony has updated its AIO VAIO L Series with 3D technology.

Wednesday Sony announced that it has upgraded the all-in-one VAIO L Series with HD 3D technology by adding a full HD 3D 24-inch LED touchscreen display, a 3D-capable Blu-ray optical drive, PlayStation 3 connectivity, and a set of 3D shutter glasses, depending on the configuration. The new AIO desktop has an online starting price of $999.99.

According to Sony, consumers can choose up to Intel's 2.20 GHz Core i7-2720QM quad-core processor (up to 3.30 GHz with Turbo Boost), up to 1 TB (7200RPM) or 2 TB (5400RPM) of HDD space, up to 8 GB of DDR3 SDRAM, an optional NTSC/ATSC TV tuner, and more. GPU options are the Nvidia GeForce GT 540M with 1 GB of VRAM or the GeForce 315M with 512 MB VRAM.

Given that this is a Sony product, the new AIO provides a special slot for Sony's proprietary Memory Stick PRO cards as well as the standard SD card slot. The desktop will also come packed with Bluetooth 2.1+ EDR, 802.11 b/g/n, gigabit ethernet, a built-in HD camera, a built-in IR receiver for models with an included remote control, Intel High Definition with Dolby Home Theater Technology, HDMI input/output jacks, USB 3.0 and more.

"With so many integrated features, including a 3D display, the L Series delivers the ultimate one-stop shop for your every productivity and entertainment needs," the company said Wednesday. "The VAIO L Series All-in-One desktop is a contemporary high-definition PC/TV with a stunning 24-inch (diag.) LED backlit multi-touch display that offers intuitive touch access to Internet and TV(select models), Blu-ray Disc movies (select models), music, photos and more."

The L Series with 3D technology will be available July 13, 2011 for pre-sale at www.sonystyle.com/lseries and at select retailers around the country for about $1,420. The new L Series comes in black or a premium white Signature Collection model.
