Sony to pay $176 million for Taiwan firm's LCD unit
Sony will buy the Japan-based operations of Taiwan’s Chi Mei Optoelectronics for $176.2 million, the companies said Friday.
The purchase is key for Sony, which is racing to catch up in the rapidly expanding flat-screen TV market.
