Sony dominates Q4 2005 microdisplay RPTV Market
Sony accounted for more than one out of every two microdisplay rear-projection TVs (MD RPTV) sold in the fourth quarter of 2005, earning a 54% share, up from 32% on 153% on-quarter and 113% on-year shipment growth, according to DisplaySearch. The Japanese electronics giant enjoyed at least a 53% share in each region for MD RPTVs and generated at least 60% on-quarter shipment growth in each region, the research firm said, adding that Sony gained share at the expense of all major players except JVC and Hitachi.
