Sony Ericsson's Bluetooth Handsfree Device

by - source: Tom's Hardware

Hand's-free gadgets for you cell phone can keep your hands on the steering wheel or allow you to gesture wildly with both hands while you're walking and talking, but if you're like me, that hand waving can gesture the earplug right out of your head or the cell phone right out of your pocket. Sony Ericsson's Bluetooth Handsfree HBH-20 shortens the length of the hands-free cable by attaching to your lapel or other handy spot and communicating to your cell phone via Bluetooth. It's about half the size of a credit card and will be on the market early next month. Ericsson figures that you'll wear the thing all day and only plug in the ear piece when you're making a call, so the company also offers interchangeable covers so that it won't clash with your threads. Little buttons on the Bluetooth unit let you manage incoming and outgoing calls without touching your phone as well a supporting voice dialing and giving you a call reject button. The HBH-20 measures 68 x 35 x 22 mm and the Bluetooth unit weighs 18 g. It gives you up to four hours of talk time and up to 60 hours of standby time. Obviously, you'll also need a cell phone that supports Bluetooth, which by some twist of fate, Ericsson also manufactures.
