A new e-mail worm, transmitted by .EXE e-mail attachments, adds an interesting twist to the virus formula. Reportedly out of Germany, Sonic Worm (W32.Sonic.Worm) has a loader and a payload. Once the user clicks on the .EXE attachment and every time Windows loads thereafter, it checks on the Web for new versions of itself to download. Already, several evolutions of the worm have begun to spread, though as yet it the writer has not taken advantage of his ability to send user information, manipulate files or crash systems.
