Rising yields at Samsung pushes 40" LCD TV panel segment into lead in April
The recent strong sales of 40" LCD TVs as well as the rapid improvement in production yields at Samsung Electronics and S-LCD - a joint venture between Samsung and Sony - have helped spur shipments of 40" TV panel ahead of shipments of 37" LCD TV panels in April, according to estimates from industry players.
Shipments of 40" LCD TV panels exceeded 330,000 units in April while shipments of 37" LCD TV panels from panel makers including AU Optronics (AUO), LG.Philips LCD and Sharp totaled about 320,000 panels during the same period, said industry players.
