SMS-Engrossed Woman Nearly Gets Creamed By A Train
A rather stark health warning to all you mobile phone fanatics : Beware being thrown into things. A woman in Osaka, Japan was nearly run over by a train when she bumped into another passenger whilst engrossed in sending a text message. A heroic station worker dove in to save her, and luckily for both the train driver managed to jam on his breaks and stop a good 20 meters from them.
No word as yet on the content of the text message, or whether the phone survived the drop. Incidentally your correspondent was in a car only the other day which nearly ran over an engrossed SMS’er who walked out onto the road from in front of a bus. Don’t they teach people not to do things like that in, ohh, I don’t know... the first week of school ?
